South Dakota 2007 WHIP Information
The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) is a voluntary program that provides both
technical and financial assistance to private landowners to develop and
improve fish and wildlife habitat. WHIP was reauthorized by the Farm
Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 as a voluntary, highly effective, and
widely accepted approach to improving wildlife habitat across the country.
Program administration of WHIP is provided through the Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS). WHIP agreements are 5 to 10 year agreements
between NRCS and the participant.
Application Deadline
WHIP applications are accepted throughout the year; however, the cut-off date
for Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 funding consideration is October 2, 2006.
Applications received after October 2, 2006, will be considered for funding in
FY2008. Applications are accepted at your local
USDA Service Center.
