South Dakota 2007 EQIP Information

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary conservation program that assists farmers and ranchers with implementing new conservation measures to address their natural resource concerns.  EQIP promotes agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible national goals while optimizing environmental benefits.

EQIP was reauthorized in the 2002 Farm Bill with greater flexibility in contract length and increased contract amounts, as well as, special consideration for Limited Resource Producers and Beginning Farmers/Ranchers.  This flexibility has increased popularity of EQIP which consistently has more demand for cost-share assistance than the budget allows.

Application Deadline

EQIP applications are accepted throughout the year; however, the cut-off date for Fiscal Year (FY) 2007 funding consideration is October 2, 2006.  Applications received after October 2, 2006, will be considered for funding in FY2008.  Applications are accepted at your local USDA Service Center.
