NRCS Vacancies in South Dakota

It is our practice to announce each of our vacancies in two different ways.  You will often see Vacancy Announcement Numbers like NRCS 07-SD-007A and NRCS 07-SD-007B to indicate these two ways.

A Vacancy Announcement like NRCS 07-SD-007A will have the suffix "Merit Promotion" after the title of the job being filled.  It is open to current and former Federal employees, (commonly referred to as Status candidates), Career Transition Assistance Program CTAP/ICTAP Eligibles; Veterans Employment Opportunities (VEOA), and those who are eligible for special hiring authorities (i.e., Veterans' Recruitment Appointment (VRA); Handicap; Peace Corps; Volunteers In Service to America (VISTA); 30% Disabled Veteran)

A Vacancy Announcement like NRCS 07-SD-007B will have the suffix "Delegated Examining Unit" after the title of the job being filled.  It is open to all U.S. Citizens.  You may see the term "Non-Status" candidates used to distinguish between all U.S. Citizens and the Status candidates covered in the category above.

An applicant can apply under both announcements by submitting a separate application for each.  It is recommended that you clearly label each application package with the number of the announcement you are applying for.

Languages of Vacancy Announcements

We have developed a detailed guide for vacancy announcements under Quickhire and another guide  for announcements that use KSA's.  The language of the guides is similar but not identical so please read them very carefully when you are considering applying for a position.  Of course, if you have any questions after you read the guide, please contact us and we will be happy to walk you through it.

E-verify - Explains the steps we must take to verify the identity of new employees.

LincPass - Explains the new employee identification card that will be issued to current and new employees.

Personally Identifiable Information (PII) - PII is information that can be used to uniquely identify an individual.  The following are some examples of data which when combined with an individual's name constitute PII.  For a decision on other data elements not indicated on this list, you should contact the USDA Chief Privacy Officer.
